BACK TO SCHOOL HAUL 2017: Stocking Up For A-Levels

Welcome to a new post!

If you're reading this and are actually still going to school, it's likely that a school haul is still pretty early for you, but here I am, still throwing stationery pictures at you because, to be honest - who doesn't enjoy stationery? (Seriously, if you don't, how do you do it?). I'm already almost half way through my summer break, and as I want to have everything sorted out before I go on holiday (be prepared for a ton of pictures), and I get way to exited about buying this stuff, I decided to do it now. Yes, I didn't buy the cutest and most instagramable stationery, but honestly, stationery is already expensive enough without being overly fancy. Also, you can always DIY stuff, which, very likely, I will do.

As I am going into my last EVER year of school (unless you want to count uni), which is absolutely mental, and I've got my A-level exams coming up in March, I really want to set up a proper study space on my desk this time. If you want to see a blog post on that, or how I am planning to study or anything else that has to do with school, definitely let me know. (It makes me more exited than it probably should oops).

To start off, I got some new folders. I got two plain ones, although not in the prettiest colours. I decided before starting Sixth Form that I would not buy a folder of one colour twice, not realizing that there aren't that many pretty colours available. But oh well, I'll be fine. We also managed to have a browse through the dollar shop recently and I saw this Despicable Me folder. I think it's just so freaking cute. Call me childish, but I just needed to get it. I'm very much a visual learner, so having stuff like this motivates me so much more than those plain folders so I just could not resist!

Then I got a bunch of other folders, which are the ones I'll actually be taking to class with me (the ones in the last picture are for revision files etc. at home). I love how colourful they all are together! Way to aesthetically pleasing! 😍

Does anyone know what you call these things? I tried finding pretty ones on Amazon but just couldn't find the right title for them. These are going to be containing loose and/or important papers for class and for the actual A-level exams.

I love being organized when it comes to my school stuff (it usually only works for a few weeks but I guess the thought counts haha), so I also got a bunch of dividers for my folders. We also found these cute and super cheap cups at some dollar store - perfect to put any pens, highlighters etc. in, and make a study space even cuter.

There are also a bunch of things I needed to stock up on. So I got a new tipp-ex, some erasers for the end of my pencils, a new set square/triangle (no idea what's the right term, let me know), some post it notes and these lilac clips, which I saw people using for their index cards, which seems like a really good idea to keep them together. Last but not least, a bookrest, as I kept wanting, but not finding my old one during last exam season, so I picked up a new one.

Let's be honest - who doesn't love highlighters?? There's just something so pleasing about having a whole bunch of different coloured highlighters and making your notes look pretty and full of colours. I also got some overhead markers, as we often need them now, some new pens and a new pencil as well.

~

There are still a few bits and bobs missing, but that's the main overview, I guess. There are two huge, fancy folders and a lovely new notebook currently on their way to me, but I guess we'll all be okay if I don't show you every single thing.

I honestly don't know what makes buying school stuff and stationery in general so exiting, but you just can't deny the fact that it motivates you at least slightly to go back to school, just to make use of all of them. I can't believe I just did my last proper back to school haul, where I'm actually going to go to school with this stuff ahhhh - I'm getting old. That hopefully won't mean that it's my last stationery haul though hehe, already can't wait to stock up for university...although, that may take a little longer than just a year, who knows. :)

I really hope you enjoyed this blog post. If you did, definitely leave me a comment below. Also, let me know what type of stationery you love buying the most and where you get it from!

Lots of Love ♥

Xx Jacqueline

P.S. If anyone is buying their school stuff in Germany - I got all of these things at Müller, Tedi and Aldi.

The Adventure Begins #TheBrightonDiaries

3rd of June 2017

Today's one is probably one of the most exiting blog posts I am ever going to write. I told you things would get more exiting as soon as June approaches,
and they hopefully will!
As I am writing this, I am sitting on a train from London Victoria to Brighton, watching over the buildings on the outsides of London. I can finally tell you what's going on today. I mean, I could have done that before, but I wanted to make sure that everything went the way it was supposed to go first. The whole of June you will probably be spammed with tons of pictures of England, particularly Brighton and London, because I am going to be staying here for four weeks to do an internship in Tourism!

I'm really exited about this, especially because this trip is such a huge learning experience to me, as well as the best opportunity to tick some things off of my bucket list. Like living in England for a little while, visiting Brighton or meeting a certain girl (more about that next week). I don't think I have ever been more exited and nervous at once about a trip. There are so many things that could go wrong, and it has been stressing me out for months.

Yet, I am glad that I decided to do this. I'll finally be able to practice spontaneous talking, get some work experience and explore a whole new area. I'm probably going to be spamming you with quite a few touristy bits throughout the next few weeks. Thanks to school being pretty much over for me, except for reading a book, I will hopefully be able to invest a little more time into these blog posts than I was able to for the past few weeks.
Sorry, that my content has been lacking a bit, but school didn't really give me much time to think about anything else other than exams and essays. From now on, it's hopefully going to be a bit more exiting and fun to read.

I'm actually very surprised that the weather has been so nice so far, but I don't want to jinx it, because it's only just 11.40 in the morning. Bloody hell, how am I supposed to stay awake until after dinner, I have been up since 3. I'll call back later, once I've got something a little more interesting to tell you, other than sitting on a train, staring at East Croydon train station.

~

My host family is really nice. We've already spent quite some time chatting politics etc, and it's been really fun. I was also able to explore Brighton on my own for a few hours. It was literally the prettiest day, except for all of the wind maybe. I gladly only have to go down the road to get to the beach, so I managed to see quite a few things in little time, like the new and old pier, the bandstand, the lanes etc. It was really fun to do some exploring, even if I didn't buy
anything apart from food.

I am hoping that maybe some day in the next week I'm going to be able to be sitting at the beach a little bit longer, because I really want to spend some quality time there. The beach is literally one of my favourite places ever, no matter where I am, because the sound of the ocean always calms me down. Today the wind was just way too cold, I was freezing in my jacket, whilst some crazy Brits decided to go swimming in this "heat".

Brighton is such a beautiful city, and I can't wait to see more of it in the next few weeks. I've just unpacked and tried to make it all homely, because I really want to enjoy my time here, not stressing about school or other stuff.

I think I might do a little Zoella/Girl Online Tour around Brighton at one point, maybe next weekend. I also really want to spend at least one day exploring London on my own, just seeing the things that I want to see. And who knows what else I'll do - probably eat at every place any of my favourite youtubers has ever recommended. When I go somewhere new and exiting, I am not one to sit down for long. I want to go out and explore, so that's definitely what I've got planned in my free time. It's so weird that I don't have to stress about exams or anything, and that I can put all of my passion into the things that I love.

If you have any recommendations on places I need to go, activities I need to try or food (places) I need to try, please let me know! I would love to hear your suggestions! I haven't decided yet, how often you are going to get these blog posts, and whether they are all just going to be chatty ones, or whether they will also include some more fancy ones, but if you want to hear more about Brighton and my trip, definitely tune in during the next few weeks.

I'll see you in the new few days! Have a great time!

Lots of love, Jacqueline Xx

14 Christmas Questions

Welcome to a new post!

Today's post is another Christmas related one. I'm sorry that all that is coming are Christmas related posts right now, but I am so in the mood for them now, and I also don't have much time to write many blogposts at the moment as I have got quite a lot going on, so I better use the time wisely and spam you with some Christmas posts. 😏

It's all about answering some questions about Christmas today, because I thought it would be a really lovely but quick post, and I personally love finding out what other people think of these type of things. I didn't choose a particular Christmas tag because there were none that I felt like I liked all the questions of, so I decided to mix all of the ones out there together and add some of my own ideas. Let's dig into this!

1. What's your favourite Christmas film?

(Sources at the bottom)

Even though I haven't seen either of them many times it probably has to be either Elf or the Grinch. Both were bloody awesome and I really hope they will be back on TV pretty soon. German TV deffo doesn't show enough Christmas films, and that is so freaking sad, if you ask me.

2. Do you open your presents Christmas Eve or Christmas morning?

As I am German and I grew up in Germany I open my presents on Christmas Eve, just like everyone else around here. The 25th and 26th are usually the days we spend with the rest of our family and closest friends. I am really interested in seeing a British Christmas happening though, hopefully to happen in a few years, even though the urge to wait until the morning will probably be so hard.

3. Your perfect Christmas?

Well, it starts after a really good nights sleep and sleeping in. We then head downstairs and have a really nice breakfast in our pyjamas. And I need to have a Hot Chocolate! We spend the day not doing a lot, maybe going for a nice Christmas walk if the weather is nice, maybe playing a game or two, wrapping some last minute presents. In the evening we have a huge Christmas dinner, we clean up together, me and my brother go upstairs to play some more just like old times before our parents call us down to exchange presents. We all unwrap them together and then spend the night trying them out, maybe watching a Christmas film together. A day full of joy and happiness waaaah that sounded a little cheesy, didn't it? I can't help it, sometimes the author inside of me just can't stop herself.

4. Favourite Christmas Gift?

Probably my Urban Decay Naked palette that I got last year, because I totally didn't expect it , and I had been asking for it for like two or three years already and never got it, even though I wanted it so badly. I was so freaking happy, I legit stared at it for days, and it's still very well used and loved.

5. Any Christmas traditions?

No presents until after we have had dinner at night and cleaned up as a family!

6. Favourite Christmas scent?

You might be expecting a candle scent or something here, but to be honest, growing up German, I can only say my favourite scent is the smell of Christmas markets. They are probably the best thing ever, especially when you go at night, snuggled up in layers of clothes and having something hot to drink. The smells of almonds and Glühwein and crepes and popcorn and chocolate fruit and whatever the hell you would expect from a Christmas market - it's so freaking addicting!

7. Favourite Christmas song?

Bloody hell, this one's hard. I mean, who doesn't love a good Christmas song or two...maybe a hundred? One obviously has to be Last Christmas. I also love Santa Tell Me by Ariana Grande and Mistletoe by Justin Bieber, All I Want For Christmas by Mariah Carey, Feliz Navidad and so many more I am forgetting right now. Even Frozen songs are on my Christmas playlist, there's just way too many.

8. Real or fake Christmas tree?

Real!!! Fake ones are a great idea, but I want the smell of a real one, the feel of a real one, and I can't deal with ones that don't have that, even if my dad tried to pursue me that we got one.

9. Dream place to visit around Christmas time?

Definitely Sweden. It's probably the only place that I dream about going around winter. I'd love to visit the Christmas markets and finally experience a proper white Christmas again.

10. Are you a pro-present wrapper or do you fail miserably?

Well, that definitely depends on what I am wrapping and whether I am having a good present wrapping day or not. I can do it quite nicely but as soon as it gets to weird shapes like circles etc it looks like a child wrapped it. 😃

11. Peeking at gifts or being surprised?

I hate knowing what I am getting, even if I make a list of things that I would like. I am not one to love surprises too much I think, but when it comes to presents, I would rather be surprised. Especially presents that you didn't expect and are really thoughtful are some of the best ones in my opinion.

12. On this year's wishlist?

Not that much actually. I would love to get some vouchers maybe from a few different places, and I have put some books on there, a DVD or two and some little beauty bits, and I think that's pretty much it. Oh no wait, a pair of Chelsea boots that I have been wanting to get ever since they started appearing on fashion blogs and in shops.

13. PJs or dress-up?

I think PJ's and comfy clothes are the way to go until the afternoon, and then I love dressing up a little bit, even if we don't end up going outside to see anyone. I don't do much, but I like putting some nicer clothes and a golden glittery make-up look on for an occasion like that. I mean, it only happens once a year.

14. Tree decoration colours?

I know this is a pretty random one, but I know we are not the only ones that have arguments about this from time to time. I personally am not a big fan of pink, blue or silver on a tree, but red and gold is the way to go!

Tell me some facts about your Christmas? How do you celebrate? I am so interested in finding out about different traditions, so please feel free to tell us all! :)

I hope you have an amazing week ♥

Love, Jacqueline Xx 👯

About 30 Facts About Me

Welcome to a new post!

Today it's time to get to know the person behind this blog a little better - me! :) I feel quite selfish to be writing this post, but I guess you just have to accept that from time to time as a single blog owner. I personally love finding out more about the bloggers and youtubers that I follow and enjoy, as I feel like it draws a closer connection and I actually know them a little better. This is just some general and pretty weird information, so if you are not the one for facts this one is probably not for you. Wow, I really can't put any structure to my words today. Sorry if that sounded really confusing :D. I better get into it, before you fall asleep and I haven't even properly started this post yet haha.

2) I've got a phobia of eyes.

24) I've never been an A* kind of person, and even if I hate studying, I love learning new things.

25) I bloody adore everything Behind The Scenes from films, tv shows, book writing process etc.

(Source)
26) I basically know every documentary about Joanne K Rowling on youtube, as I once did a huge Harry Potter presentation in year 10 and I absolutely adore how deep the story goes behind the actual series.

September Chats 2016

Welcome to a new post!

How is it already time to do my September 2016 round up?? This year is going by way too fast. I mean we are so close to Christmas already, and I am not sure whether that's just completely scary or incredible. This month has actually been quite a good one, and I did quite a few things that I really enjoyed. Before October is over too, let's dig into what happend in September! :)

New Laptop

Guysssss, I'm finally the happy owner of a laptop. I can finally write and browse wherever I want to, instead of having to choose between tons of uncomfortable positions on my desk. It's not a Macbook, but who needs a Macbook when you can get a really good laptop with all the technical details that you need for less money? :) I'm really happy with it, and I'm already using it way too much. Writing is much more fun when you are cozy and in bed.

Driving License

Guess who's finally allowed to drive?? Meeeee. Hell, clear the streets I'm coming. It definitely wasn't perfect, and for a few seconds I literally thought I had failed, but gladly I didn't! As we got a different car than my driving teacher, it's been a little harder to drive it, as I still need to become friends with it (lol), but I'm loving it. Though I do feel old. That's literally the first thing I said when I got my license. I always thought as a child, that when you can drive you are finally an adult. Well, you're not, but I mean being able to drive is very adulty, and I feel like that's quite scary. Can I stop aging now, thank you. :D

TV Shows

I had planned on finally watching Suits, but to be honest I stopped after two episodes - definitely not because it was bad, but because I felt like watching something else for once! I'm definitely going to carry on soon. I also got a list by a friend of mine of series to watch, so that's another thing I got planned to go through. Guess this exam season will be filled with loads of TV Shows  - how bad :D. But anyways, I finally started watching Breaking Bad. I had it on my list for quite a while, but as it also was on my friend's list, I thought I might as well start it. Even though I like Chemistry, it's definitely not my usual thing. So far, I quite like the series though. I'm currently close to the end of Season 2, so I got a few episodes to go.

Reading and Writing

I'm still stuck on the second Game of Thrones book, as for some reason I just can't find the motivation right now to fight through it, as much as I love the series. However, after a really long time of not reading anything on Wattpad, I finally decided to mix my reading up a bit, and finally read something on it again. To be honest, I went back to my habit of reading college Harry Styles fanfictions, but I actually still enjoyed that. Writing wise, I've definitely had quite a few thoughts, but I still can't quite figure out the proper plot or villain part of the story, let alone decide on character names. However I did manage to finally write a few new bits and scenes down, prepping myself for writing season next month. I will do a whole blogpost on my writing journey throughout Novembers at some point at the month, so keep tuned for that! :)

Concerts

Me and my friend got tickets for Shawn Mendes next year - ahhhh yaaas! I've loved his music for quite a little while, and I particularly love his first album - the second one obviously is in my current playlist! Really exited for it! And I also went to see a German comedian this month with another friend! His name is Luke Mockridge (maybe Canadian and Italian as well...but mainly German okay :D), and I bloody love that guy. I have been watching his show for a long time, and he just hits my humor. If you are German/Austrian/(Idk about Switzerland?), and you haven't heard of him yet, even if you usually aren't the one for Comedians, where the hell have you been living?? Definitely have to see him again next year, that guy is so good! I literally didn't get the smile from my face for days and days.

Politic Adventures

Um, if you aren't from Germany, I am not quite sure whether you know about a party that's currently getting a lot of fuss here, called Alternative für Deutschland (AfD - Alternative for Germany). They are basically the Front Nationale and Republicans of our parties...Let's just not get a further look into that. For fun our politics course decided to go to an event by them and see what umm weird stuff they were gonna try and tell us. It was literally the funniest thing ever to see what some people believe in, and how much shit politicians can tell us in order to make us vote for them, without us even realizing. Sorry if I'm offending everyone, that's just my personal opinion. I don't like being judged about stuff like this, but I guess as a blog owner I kinda feel like talking about politics from time to time is something I need and want to do.

Planning The Future

The future is a tricky thing, especially when you've got no  idea what you want to do after school. I mean I know what corner I want to go in, but I still don't really know which specific corner I will end up in. We got books full of all existing university courses and options, mainly focused on Germany, and I'm still quite undecided. I've had quite a few thoughts about it over the past few days and weeks, and it definitely helped me rule out at least some courses. I'm definitely going to do a gap year as an Au Pair after Sixth Form, but the life after that is still quite undecided. Did I mention how much I hate not having a plan? Would you like a whole blogpost on my thoughts of struggling with this etc? Pretty sure, I am not the only struggling with this. :)

School Adventures - Heidelberg, US elections, Food

This week we had a whole week of doing stuff with our English Advanced course, instead of doing proper school stuff, which was so lovely. We mainly focused on the US elections, but we still had a lot of other fun bits to do. Monday we went to Heidelberg, which is a city sort of in the south of Germany. It's quite beautiful. There we had a three hour workshop with an American telling us all about the US elections, which was VERY informative, let me tell you. :D Afterwards we also had a little freetime, which was nice. I think I'd definitely like to visit the city again, as we definitely didn't see a lot. The next two days we spend focusing on presentations about certain topics about the elections, as well as Friday. On Thursday however we had a late start, even making me manage to sneak in a little run before, and then met to have a chinese. We all ate way too much food, but who can say no to an All-you-can-eat??. Afterwards we went bowling, and let me just say - I'm definitely not made for it. However, we had so much fun, and I'm really sad the week went by so fast.

Music Loves

Last but not least, I cannot go without mentioning that Niall released his first solo single. No he didn't release, he dropped it out of the middle of nowhere. "This Town" is such a pretty song, and totally my thing. If you haven't listend to it yet, please do it, even if you never liked the 1D music. I've also been working on the playlist for my 18th, even though that's still a little less than three months away. It's literally my favourite playlist right now, as it's such a throwback. I love it!

Soo, I think we are finally done. It was quite an eventful month, but I really really enjoyed it. I got a few blogposts planned, so let's hope exam season doesn't get in the way and I can post them alllll! :) How was your month? What have you got planned for October?

Have an amazing day, and an incredible October! ♥

Garnier SkinActive Hydra Bomb Sheet Mask Review

Welcome to a new post!

I recently went on a German website called Sparwelt, where you can find really good offers if you want to save some money. There's also a page on which you have an overview of samples to sign up for, and I found this one for a new Garnier mask. As my favourite spot-reducing mask is from Garnier, I got pretty exited about trying it. This isn't sponsored by the way haha :)

To be honest, I had never tried a cloth mask before, so this was a whole new experience for me, which I thought would be really lovely to share. This is going to be a pretty small review, but I hope you enjoy it, as I feel like there's nothing better than a good mask during a pamper session! :)

The packaging says that the mask is supposed to be intensivly moisturizing and revitalizing, and give you a fresh and shiny skin, straighten fine lines and be easy to use. It's meant to be for pretty dry and 'tired' skin and moisturize your skin for a whole week.

I have a really nice app where you can check ingredients, called Codecheck - not quite sure if it's available anywhere apart from Germany though - and here are the results.

The mask includes 2 ingredients that are hormonally effective (Methylparaben and Propylparaben), another ingredient named is Pvm/ Ma Copolymer, which is makes it easier for all shitty bits that fly around to get into your skin. There are also 4 ingredients that are only recommended limitedly (is that even a word :D?).  The other 17 are all good. That isn't too bad I guess, but I am really not the biggest fan of hormonally effective bits in the stuff that I put onto my skin - I've seen a lot worse though, so it's alright, I guess.

The mask is pretty pretty drenched in the serum, so be prepared for that. It stays on for 15 minutes, before you either take the excess off or massage it into your skin. I definitely have to say that I prefer putting the mask on the places that I need it, but it hasn't put me off of sheet masks completely.

It felt pretty pretty moisturizing once I had it on, and I had the serum everywhere. When I took it all off, and had massaged the last few bits into my skin, my skin felt a little weird, inbetween being full of last bits of serum and feeling a little dry. As soon as the last few bits were dry, my skin definitely felt a little dry as well. That lasted for a little while.

It is now about an hour and half after I took it off, and I actually feel like I look slightly more glowy, especially around my eyes and my nose, as I don't look as dead anymore. My skin doesn't feel dry anymore, but it doesn't feel moisturized either. It's pretty much back to normal, I would say.

At the end of the day I have to say, that my skin basically feels as smooth as it would be on a good day. I can't really say anything about the results for really dry skin throughout the whole day, as I've got normal skin, but it might help you slightly.

To sum it all up - a nice sheet mask if you fancy one but don't expect too much from it. I don't think I would buy it, but who knows, as it deffo wasn't terrible, just not good enough for what I expected. However, the other mask that Garnier sells, which heatens up on your face, is incredible! So have a look into that if you want something that does amazing work when it comes to spots.

What's your favourite mask? Do you prefer sheet masks or normal ones? Leave me some comments, I would love to find out :)

Have a great day ♥
